3 must-see places to visit this summer in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville

Presentation

We share with you our selection of 3 must-see places in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville. Zoom on the discovery of the emblematic treasures of the Belleville territory 👀

1. Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie

Located between Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and the hamlet of Saint Marcel, Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie is a 17th century baroque chapel classified as a Historical Monument in 1949. The site has been a place of pilgrimage since the 13th century and to this day in Savoie. The sobriety of the exterior building contrasts with the richness of the gold-covered and flamboyantly colored altarpieces found inside.

2. Burdin Mill

The Mill of Burdin is a perfectly preserved witness of the agro-pastoral activity in the Belleville Valley. Intended to grind the crops grown by the inhabitants, it is a water mill typical of mountain areas, activated by a system of horizontal wheels called "fins". Guided tours are offered free of charge to discover the history, the mechanism and the way the mill used to work.
Located about a 30 minutes walk from the village of Saint Marcel, you can reach it by taking a pleasant walk along the Doron river.

3. Museum of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville

Housed in an old farmhouse, the Saint-Martin-de-Belleville Museum traces 150 years of history of "La Vallée des Belleville". Its evolution, from the alpine agriculture, through the first ski lifts to the construction of ski resorts. In the basement, a traditional habitat of the 50's has been reconstituted. Once a week, the whole family can discover the village and the museum during a guided tour.

Other activities are also possible in the area: mountain bike rental, ATV, scooter, guided hike, etc.
