A centuries-old history
The visit begins outside. After explaining the construction and history of this 17th century masterpiece, the guide leads the visitors in with music. He then leaves his place to a character whose history is linked to the sanctuary.Through this first encounter, the public understands the strong attachment that the inhabitants of the Vallée des Belleville had (and still have) with this very special place. Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie is revealed in a new light.
A jewel of heritage and architecture
The visit continues in the nave of the sanctuary, a part usually closed to the public. Then, the sculptor makes his entrance. He explains his work and the commission he was given. In a profusion of sculptures and gold, this altarpiece details the life of the Virgin Mary and harbors a hidden secret in its center! The two other altarpieces, in the side crosspieces, are detailed later.

Through all the characters met, the public discovers the history of the emblematic site, its evolutions and its anchoring in the territory. A complete visit, brilliantly orchestrated, mixing heritage, history, legend and architecture.It's quite cold inside, which is quite pleasant during the hot weather, for the most sensitive to cold, bring a little jacket :)
